The Original Speak & Spell Sound Set — for your Roland SP-404MKII

This project features one-shot samples of spoken words such as the alphabet, numbers, and original Speak & Spell phrases. All sounds were captured directly from the vintage Texas Instruments Speak & Spell machine, then creatively rearranged into a fresh collection of phrases. This set was previously released as a Speak & Spell standard WAV pack, and is now optimized for the SP-404MKII.

Instant fun: Load the project directly into your SP-404MKII and start playing across 10 sound banks/kits (around 160 one-shot samples) — no programming required. Each sample is set to Gate Off and assigned to a Mute Group per bank for smoother playability.

Please note: due to capacity limitations of the SP-404MKII project format, not all of the sounds from the full WAV pack could be included in this version.

👉 How to load the Project into the SP-404 MK2 Sampler
Importing a native project into your SP-404 MK2 is the easiest thing; you can either use the Roland SP-404 MKII App (recommended), or else import directly from an SD-Card (page 103, Reference Manual).

👉 TIP: An empty project (1-16) on the machine is needed in order to import a new one; overwriting a project of choice is also possible. In any case the SP will prompt you on how to proceed. Regular backups of your projects are a good practice.
